Love and legacy are timeless forces. They shape the stories we tell, the traditions we protect, and the things we leave behind. At Genuine Spirit Company, love and legacy are not abstract ideas, they are distilled into every bottle, shaped by patience, craftsmanship, and a founder’s journey across the world that ultimately led him back home to whiskey.
Whiskey, at its core, is an expression of devotion. It demands care, intention, and time — the same ingredients required to build something meaningful that lasts.
Craft whiskey is love made tangible. It begins with curiosity, a willingness to experiment, to tinker, to learn — and grows through discipline and respect for proven methods. It means trusting the process, even when the reward is years away.
For Genuine Spirit Company, that love shows up in April One Bourbon. A balance of sweetness and spice, April One reflects a hands-on approach to crafting whiskey with purpose. Aged over two years and finished in Bardstown, Kentucky (the Bourbon Capital of the World), the bourbon matures in the heart of the Bluegrass Region, surrounded by rolling hills, fertile farmland, and generations of bourbon-making tradition.
Bardstown’s humid summers and cool winters play a critical role in the aging process, allowing the whiskey to breathe in and out of the barrel as the seasons change. Like love, whiskey is shaped by its environment. Time matters. Patience matters. The willingness to let something evolve naturally matters.
Every barrel tells a story of commitment, not shortcuts. In an industry where speed can be tempting, Genuine Spirit Company chooses intention instead.
The legacy behind Genuine Spirit Company is inseparable from its founder, Troy Pepito. A U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer with over two decades of service, Troy’s career took him across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Pacific — exposing him to cultures deeply rooted in tradition, hospitality, and craft.
Like many service members, Troy didn’t stop creating when the uniform came off. Military life often sparks the best side projects, creative outlets that balance structure with curiosity. For Troy, that curiosity led him toward marketing, storytelling, and eventually, the product itself.
What started as tinkering at home quickly became a passion. Through home brewing and hands-on experimentation, Troy fell in love with the process — learning how ingredients, time, and technique come together to create something meant to be shared. Whiskey wasn’t just something to drink; it became something to build.
During his time overseas, that appreciation deepened. Helping deliver local Sicilian wine and beer to fellow service members showed him how powerful shared drinks can be, especially when you’re far from home. A pour after a long day. A toast after a hard-earned win. A quiet moment with people who understand the grind.
Those moments of connection, celebration, reflection, camaraderie — shaped Troy’s vision for what Genuine Spirit Company could become: a spirits company rooted in integrity, service, curiosity, and authenticity, honoring the legacy of the Navy Chief Petty Officer community while creating something lasting for the next generation.
Genuine Spirit Company isn’t just inspired by tradition. It’s built on it.
Legacy isn’t measured by volume or velocity. It’s measured by impact — the values we pass on, the standards we uphold, and the stories that endure long after we’re gone.
At Genuine Spirit Company, legacy lives in the details:
Every pour of April One is an invitation to slow down, reflect, and toast to what matters most.
Love is the work you put in.
Legacy is what remains.
And at Genuine Spirit Company, both are poured generously.
